Will Vonage's New Free Calling Mobile App Put an End to "Minutes" Once and for All?

For Your Info: Just wanted to let you know that the two posts about this application were sponsored by Vonage. With that said, I will still be giving you my true and honest opinion about this application, expressing what I find, in as unbiased a manner, as I possibly can.

A recurring question always comes to mind every time I glance at my phone bill, "Why am I still paying for minutes on top of my unlimited data plan?" Though I supposedly have unlimited data, according to my wireless provider, "unlimited" does not appear to include the data I use when making phone calls. Well I say enough of that!

Vonage has recently released a Mobile Application for iPhone and Android that uses the data connection on your phone to free worldwide talk and text all other users of the app. Using your phone's 4G, 3G, or Wi-Fi connection, this application will allow you to make phone calls that circumvent the whole "minutes" idea completely.  Just be sure to remember that the calls still use your data plan, which is something to think about if you have a cap.

Even though they were not the first to implement this idea of data calling or "voice-over IP" (for all you nerds out there), Vonage's Mobile App is said to boast several improvements in user experience over it's competitors.

These differences, as well as my complete opinion of the application as a whole, will be included in a review exactly one week from today. Between that time and now, I am going to be testing this new application by exclusively making phone calls with it throughout my daily life. I really feel like the only way to truly give my honest opinion about this app is to just jump head first into it and see how I feel about it when I come out the other side.

"Charged and Ready": Full Sony Vaio S-Series Review

Warning: It has come to my attention that I have written what appears to be a small book about this computer and do so apologize if my long form article does not hold your restless brain for its entirety. It won't hurt my feelings if you decide to leave and come back -- just try not to fall asleep because then my "Time Vistors Spend on Website" numbers will become grossly skewed (just kidding). I would also like to take this opportunity to caution you about the content of this post. It's not too often someone hands me a brand new computer and asks, "What do you think?", which means I am definitely going to be using this rare opportunity to the max. In other words, prepare to get "techafied" and make sure to have your nerd hats on tight!......Also, if you've been wondering what I've been working on all this time between posts, this is it!

Starting off I must divulge that this post is part of a program called, "Charged and Ready", by Sony Electronics and Microsoft. I, along with a few other college bloggers, were given a Sony VAIO-S series laptop to test and review.

So, with that out of the way, let's begin.....

Like I said, I've been testing this Sony Vaio S-Series Notebook for a few weeks now and think I've formed a pretty good opinion on its pros and cons as a laptop.....

"Charged and Ready": Sony Vaio S-Series First Impressions

How many times has it happend to you? You’re at school all day taking notes (and checking Facebook) when your battery starts to run out. Reaching into your bag, you grab for your charger only to realize that you've left it at the dorm, leaving you computer-less for the remainder of the day. Well, hopefully with the new Sony S-Series notebooks, that will be a thing of the past.

I have been given a great opportunity to review the new Sony Vaio S-Series notebook in a program called “Charged and Ready,” which focuses greatly on the fact that with this computer, you can get up to 15 hours of battery life with an optional battery pack (pictured on far bottom right below).

Nude No More!: Threadless Select Product Review

In college, what you wear defines you. This may be why there seems to be no shortage of online T-Shirt stores geared towards the college community.

Of the many, Threadless(affiliate link), in my opinion,  has shined out as a leader of the pack. Their shirts are witty and cool without being overly provocative or corny. So naturally when asked if I would review their new Select Line of Clothing, I was super stoked.

The Product
In Threadless' own words..

The Select Line is designed by the community, but curated by Threadless. It includes original Threadless designs blown up, scaled back, with the original concepts intact. The products are printed with water-based inks on finer cotton, to be sofer and eco-friendlier.

In essence, Threadless is taking some of their original designs, changing them up a bit, and then putting them on super nice material. The shirts are made from 100% pima cotton and are "satin garment washed" in order to get that soft worn-out cotton feeling.

Beer Pong Gets Decked!: Pong Deck Product Review

In the college party scene, beer pong's popularity as a social drinking game is on the decline. Because of games like Corn Hole, Flip Cup, King’s Cup and Bucket Ball, beer pong has taken a back seat in the college party drinkscape. So naturally, I became very excited when a couple of great guys from Chicago contacted me about a new product they created which is supposed to give beer pong a well needed kick in the ping pongs. In their own words, "Beer Pong Will Never Be The Same!”

When first hearing this statement, I thought it was a little lofty at best. Changing an already established game that everyone knows never really works out well (case and point: The XFL). Upon looking a little deeper, however, my opinion quickly changed.

The Game
Pong Deck is a new way of playing beer pong which incorporates a deck of 50 cards which are dealt out under each cup full of beer. When a ball is made in the cup, the card must be flipped over to reveal either an action (lose a turn, downtown shot, hook shot, no look shot, etc.) or drinking scenario (chug 2 seconds, chug 4 seconds, social, waterfall, etc.) that then must be done. To put this game to the test, this Halloween I pulled out my brand new Pong Deck for the very first time with a group of friends. We played at least 6 or 7 games with the deck, and here is what I found:
